Shahen Yashpal, DDS, MS, is a dedicated endodontist who provides compassionate, patient-centered care. Known for his calm demeanor and approachable style, Dr. Yashpal strives to make root canal treatment a comfortable and surprisingly positive experience. He is committed to helping patients feel comfortable and confident throughout their treatment while utilizing advanced technology to deliver precise, predictable results.
A first-generation Indian Canadian, Dr. Yashpal was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He earned a double major in Human Biology and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Toronto before completing a Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences. He later received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry, where he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honor Society and received the American Association of Endodontists Predoctoral Student Achievement Award, an honor recognizing exceptional achievement and dedication to the specialty of endodontics.
Following dental school, Dr. Yashpal completed a General Practice Residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, where he gained advanced clinical training and experience treating medically complex patients, including those at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He then completed his specialty training in endodontics at the University of Illinois Chicago, where he also earned a Master of Science in Oral Sciences.
Dr. Yashpal has authored multiple scientific publications and presented research at both national and international conferences, including meetings of the American Association of Endodontists and the International Association for Dental Research. He was selected as a member of the Foundation for Endodontics’ Resident Expert Advisory Council (REACH), a leadership program that engages promising residents in advancing the future of the specialty.
Passionate about saving natural teeth, Dr. Yashpal incorporates the latest advances in endodontic care, including cone beam CT imaging, surgical microscopy, and laser-assisted treatment. He has extensive experience utilizing the Fotona laser and advanced laser irrigation techniques to enhance disinfection and improve treatment outcomes. His philosophy of care centers on empathy, communication, and ensuring that every patient feels heard, informed, and comfortable throughout their visit.
Outside the office, Dr. Yashpal enjoys playing tennis, learning about photography, trying new recipes from various cuisines, and traveling to learn about different cultures.
